Hi there! We’re trying something new…
Each month we’re going to put together a list of five things you can do to support refugees, asylum seekers and new migrants locally. We hope it’s a simple way for us to connect up our friends and supporters with actions that might make a real difference to people’s lives.
We’ve based our list on things that are happening in the areas we work: Lewisham, Wandsworth, Southwark and Kingston. We’ve also added one action that you can take that specifically relates to our passion: making music with young Londoners.
In Wandsworth the Polish White Eagle Club have established humanitarian routes to get aid to areas of Ukraine that are currently not being supported - donate to them here: Fundraiser by White Eagle Appeal : White Eagle appeal (gofundme.com)
In Lewisham AFRIL are looking for volunteer teaching assistants to support the Rainbow Club (where we work every Saturday!) could this be you? Charity Jobs | Charityjob.co.uk
At Refugee Action Kingston Syrian cook Walaa recently catered for the team 'away day' and is now looking for other paid catering opportunities - find out more here: Syrian Food with Walaa – Refugee Action Kingston: Shop
Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers are looking for qualified teachers to run drop in classes for children aged 8-12 who aren’t able to get into school. If you’re interested please contact maddy@sdcas.org.uk
Our friends at Kinetika Bloco are organising a fun run on 29th June to support their music making activities in South London - you can sign up and train with them here: Chase the Sun for Kinetika Bloco (office.com)
And of course you can support our work at Fairbeats by sharing this list and following us on instagram and twitter
